Josie was originally bought in December as a companion for a 5 year old autistic child, but as an extremely lively young puppy, not house trained and with very sharp teeth, it was a disaster. The child was terrified of her, the family couldn’t cope and poor Josie was distressed and frightened. Fortunately they realised they had been given poor advice and soon handed her over to a rescue where I volunteer. I took her straight home to foster, fully intending to find a suitable home in the new year, but by the time it came to start looking for a new home we realised that we couldn’t bear to part with her so she became a permanent member of the household. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but 19 months on, and with a lot of patience and hard work, she is becoming a wonderful companion.
